Result: Swanage lost by four wickets.

Details:

Craig Wells and Mike Nash put on 78 at four runs an over in a partnership full of enterprising batting. Wells excellent innings was ended by an accurate spell of off spin bowling by Tremlin, who caused major problems by turning the ball a long way. Guy Watson and James Harris batted well in a 62 run partnership to help set Portland a competitive total to chase.

In reply, Doidge relished the challenge by playing aerial drives over the infield to any half volley bowled to him. As the ball dropped between fielders and one catch was spilled, his luck held and his aggressive approach put on 70 with Barrett and another 70 with Randall. Portland were now in the driving seat but good bowling by Guy Watson and Peter Kirby made them work very hard. They lost four wickets in achieving the last thirty runs, victory only coming with four balls to spare.

Result:        Swanage won.

Details:

A solid batting performance from Swanage's top order allowed the home team to rack up an impressive 233-5. D Haines and T Holland started the ball rolling before T Edgar, C Elfes and R Norman carried Swanage to their final total. T Hannam was the pick of the Gillingham bowling with 2-43 on a docile pitch.

Early powerful hitting from Garrett allowed Gillingham to keep up with the run rate initially but the middle order was strangled by R Wilcox. A quick 54 from Adams gave Gillingham a brief glimmer of hope but Norman returned to end the game. Churchill's 2-24 was just return for an accurate spell of pace bowling.
