Details:

Swanage openers Ian Booth and Anton Howse fought hard to establish a platform but both went with the score at 28. James Harris and Patrick Yerby now developed a classic partnership. First they consolidated and then accelerated, using their feet to the spinners to play some glorious straight drives. However, it was the excellence of their running between the wickets which put the stamp on their memorable, 158 run partnership. When Yerby went in attempting one quick run too many, Hamworthy came back with four wickets but clean strikes by Seb Warner (19*) enabled Swanage to add 26 runs in the last three overs and achieve a big score.

After tea, Hamworthy lost an early wicket and then quickie Simon Dyson sent two more back during a good opening spell to make the score 64 - 3. After another wicket, E.Wilson played really well to put Hamworthy in the driving seat. Then, in a key moment, he was brilliantly caught in the covers by Ian Booth low to his right. At 130 - 5, Hamworthy were well ahead of the equivalent Swanage run rate but needed to conserve their remaining wickets. A tempting, teasing spell of off spin by Craig Wells now came to Swanage's rescue. As Hamworthy flashed and flailed, Wells disposed of all three danger men and finally tilted the balance of an excellent game in favour of the home team.

Pete Dyer scored 34 out of an opening partnership of 41 with hard hit aerial strokes and then Pete Barker struck the ball fiercely to take the score to 134 - 2. Leg spinner Charlie May now wove a spell over the batsmen as he took the last eight wickets. His brilliant spell included a hat trick and ended the innings early in the forty first over.

After tea, J.Beck and D.Stroud batted sensibly to take Winton to 102 - 2 but Swanage stuck to their task and took a further four wickets before Winton won in the forty first over. Ricky King and Terry Buck were Swanage's best bowlers.
