Season Results
Saturday June 11 th,
Date and place of Match: Saturday June 11 th, Away. League: NSA Saturday Division 1.
Scoreboard: Swanage 72
( A.Howse 21. S.Talbot 6 - 21, A.Rendall 3 - 6.)
Dorchester 73 - 2
(I.Polley 38*.)
Result: Swanage lost by 8 wickets.
Details:
A devastating spell by S. Talbot made Swanage batsmen at Dorchester. After the loss of an early wicket, Anton Howse and James Harris took the score to 45 - 1 when medium pacer Talbot and spinner A. Rendall were brought on. Harris was caught in Talbot's first over and Howse then went to an unfortunate L.B.W. decision in his next one. This started a rout as the next eight batsmen could only manage to raise the score by 19 runs until the innings closed in the twenty sixth over.
In reply, I.Polley and I.Sibley attacked as Ryan Norman went for 30 runs in his two overs. When quick bowler Simon Dyson replaced Norman, he had Sibley caught in his first over and then had number three P.Rugg caught behind. But soon, Dorchester reached their target to leave Swanage with their first defeat of the season, and an overwhelming one at that.

Scoreboard: Swanage First Eleven 247 - 6
( A. King 65, D. Acklam 55, N. Troy 27.)
Fontmell Magna 135
(C.Hamblin 35*, G.Cheverton 28, M. Wells 4 -18.)
Result: Swanage won by 112 runs.
Details:
Classic cover driving from Ashley King and square curtting from David Acklam put on 132 in a second wicket partnership for Swanage. Thanks to these two and support from Nick Troy and Roger Wilcox, Fontmell were set a large target.
Fontmell's chances were dented as three wickets fell to good openeing spells from Tim Edgar and Paul Higham. When Mike wells came on to bowl out swingers, Steve Arp soon took his third useful catch behind the wicket. Wells then took three more cheaply to dash Fontmell's hopes. Clive Hamblin batted well to marshall the tail but received little support from the other end as Roger Wilcox and the returning Higham closed the match with six overs to spare. This huge win was the first of the season for the Sunday First Eleven.

Date and place of Match: Sunday June 12 th, Away. League: NSA Sunday Division 7.
Scoreboard: Swanage Second Eleven 169 - 6
( P.Clark 42, P.Barker 41* , I.Harris 39. C.Woods 4 - 39.)
Sturminster and Hinton Second Eleven 171 - 4
( C.Woods 75*, S.Moore 33. R. King 3-22.)
Result: Swanage lost by six wickets.
Details:
Steady batting by Ian Harris and Peter Clark gave Swanage a good base but it took some superb straight driving and pulling by Pete Barker to give Swanage a reasonable total on a good batting pitch
Ricky King bowled two excellent spells but the surfeit of short bowling from the remaining bowlers was hit fiercely by C.Moore to take Sturminster to victory with eleven overs to spare.
