( B.Doidge 49, J.Davey 40, S.Browne 38*, G.Randall 31.)

Result: Swanage lost by 89 runs.
Details:
Portland batted vigorously to reach a high total in a match reduced to 42 overs because of early rain. Although Swanage bowlers and fielders were handicapped by wet conditions, Jim Morrison and Ryan Norman bowled good spells. However, Swanage's main handicap was self imposed. They dropped seven catches - most of them easy ones.
After tea, Portland benefited from a drying ground and a livelier pitch. Three brilliant catches reduced Swanage to 26 - 3. James Harris then batted well for his 24 runs before succumbing to the last ball of an excellent twelve overs from Simon Browne. Jim Morrison contributed a useful 20 but the remaining batsmen lacked fight as Jan Davey and Gary Randall sent Swanage to another heavy home defeat.

Result: Match tied.
Details:
After the loss of two early Swanage wickets, Tim Edgar played a series of flowing drives to repair the situation until a pulled muscle forced him to retire from the game. This left Swanage a bowler short for the second part of the match. Peter Kirby and Nick Troy now played some glorious strokes to add 88 runs for the fifth wicket and take the score past 200. A late flourish from Roger Wilcox enabled Swanage to set the visitors a big target.
Adrian Rose and Jimmy Purser gave the visitors a brilliant start and the Swanage bowling wilted. At 163 - 0 in the twenty ninth over, the game appeared to be Sturminster's but Peter Kirby had other ideas. In his first game of the season, he bowled a mean spell of left arm spin and , in his third over dismissed both openers in successive balls. Kirby kept taking wickets but Sturminster kept scoring big runs from the other end. As a result of Kirby's fine spell, 17 runs were needed in the last six balls. With panic setting in, Swanage fielders managed three bad overthrows, the last of which enabled the buccaneering visitors to achieve an exciting tie.
