Scoreboard: Swanage 165 - 6
( C.Wells 36, G.Watson 35*. L.Elsworth 3 - 15.)
Marnhull 169 - 5
( J.Young 55, B.Lewis 47. R.Norman 4 - 50.)
Result: Swanage lost by 5 wickets.
Details:
Openers Craig Wells and Anton Howse made good progress for Swanage putting on 57 when Wells was bowled. Howse and James Harris had added another 40 when Howse was also bowled. Along with some economical bowling from Humphreys and Stuart Sweatman at the other end, an effective spell of medium pace from Les Elsworth, now dictated the outcome of the game. After getting Harris leg before with his fifth ball, Elsworth took two more wickets whilst conceding only 15 runs in nine excellent overs. A number of poor strokes did not help the home team, who were now in dire trouble with the score at 118 - 5 in the thirty eighth over. Powerful driving from Guy Watson in a fighting knock of 35* enabled Swanage to add 47 runs in the last seven overs. Nevertheless, their total of 165 appeared to be too low to test top of the table Marnhull.
After tea, J.Young and E.Lewis put on 49 before Norman trapped Lewis leg before wicket. Young and Barrie Lewis now added a further 89 for the second wicket with confident strokeplay. With the score at 138 - 1, quickie Ryan Norman returned for his second spell. He bowled Young with his second ball and then knocked back the stumps twice more but he could not prevent Marnhull from reaching their target with ten overs to spare.

Details:
Adam King took two early wickets for Swanage but Gary Lockyer and Terry Jeans picked up the tempo for Avon and enabled them to reach a high score, despite some reasonable bowling from Chris Moore and Terry Whote.
In reply Jeans and Derek Smith restricted Swanage to just 36 runs from twenty overs. However some late hitting from Adam King and Andrew Cuthbert took them over the hundred mark.
