Scoreboard: Swanage First Eleven 182 - 5
( M.Nash 51, D.Haines 35, P.Clark 20. M.Chant 4 - 36.)
Stalbridge 183 - 7
( S.Forshaw 70, C.Moore 32, P.Clarkson 21*. R.Norman 3 -
44.)
Result: Swanage lost by 3 wickets.
Details:
Openers Mike Nash and David Haines gave the Swanage
innings the best of starts against some determined
Stalbridge fast bowling. Defending watchfully, they attacked
when possible and ran purposefully. Nash’s fifty
contained nine fours from a series of extra cover drives and
a magnificent square cut. Spinners M. Chant and J.Forsey
slowed the scoring rate and then ended the 108 run
partnership by dismissing both batsmen. These two continued
to bowl well and , despite a spurt in the last two overs,
Swanage regretted not reaching 200.
In their turn, Stalbridge found runs hard to get against
accurate opening spells from Ryan Norman and Ron Barker.
After three wickets fell to these two, S.Forshaw and C.Moore
picked up the run rate in a long 100 run partnership. When
Moore went, Forshaw cut loose and hit a huge six into the
trees over mid wicket. When he was eventually well caught in
the deep by Seb Warner, Roger Wilcox gave Swanage renewed
hope with two quick wickets but Clarkson guided Stalbridge
to win an excellent game of cricket with two overs to spare.

Scoreboard: Swanage Second Eleven 151 - 9
( J.Gadstone 41*, P.Dyer 37, J.Hardy 26.)
Bridport Second Eleven 112
(A.Avery 4 - 22, R. Perry 4 - 31.)
Result: Swanage won by 39 runs.
Details:
After being put into bat in drizzly conditions, some
lusty hitting from Peter Dyer brightened thing up for
Swanage. However, wickets fell steadily at the other end and
at 59 - 5, Swanage were in trouble. John Hardy and Joe
Gadstone came to the rescue with a determined partnership
which enabled Swanage to reach a respectable total.
The weather improved after tea and accurate bowling from
Richard Perry, Andy Avery, Tom Large and Joe Gadstone saw
nine out of ten bowled to take Swanage to a convincing
victory.
