Date and place of Match: Saturday July 5 th,
Away. League: NSA Saturday Division 2.
Scoreboard: Pimperne 265 - 8
( S.Jackson 72, R.Cole 63, J.Sullivan 41, G.King 27.
A.Croft 5 - 26.)
Swanage 236
( A.Croft 69, M.Nash 40, A.Howse 37, C.Wells 21. R.Cole 4
- 53, J.Sullivan 3 - 80.)
Result: Swanage lost by 29 runs.
Details: After an early loss, S.Jackson, J.Sullivan and
R.Cole built the Pimperne innings with good, steady batting,
as they scored at six an over on the fast, bouncy artificial
pitch. Swanage bowlers and fielders kept their enthusiasm
going and were able to come back at Pimperne in the last ten
overs. In an excellent spell of medium pace, Andy Croft
bowled four and had another leg before as the score changed
from 200 - 2 to 265 - 8.
With small boundaries, this total was eminently gettable
and Swanage were always up with the run rate. After Craig
Wells went early, it was a question whether the remaining
batsmen could eliminate the riskier strokes from their game
and so be there at the end. Anton Howse and Mike Nash fought
well until they both gave catches. Then Andy Croft added to
his bowling feat with a quality innings, which included huge
pulled sixes into the road and straight ones into a garden.
When he was also caught it was up to numbers six to eleven
but they could only muster 29 runs between them. This left
Swanage with much to think about and persevering Pimperne
with a deserved victory in the fortieth over.

Away. League: NSA Sunday Division 3.
Scoreboard: Winterbourne Kingston 124 - 9
( M.Tuck 32., G.Lewis 28, D.Upshall 28. R.Barker 4 - 10,
M.Nash 3 - 28.)
Swanage First Eleven 123
(T.Edgar 20. E.Thomas 4 - 32.)
Result: Swanage lost by 1 run.
Details:
Good bowling by Ron Barker quickly reduced Winterbourne
Kingston to 10 - 3 on their spongy pitch. Runs were at a
premium but G.Lewis and D.Upshall stuck and eventually
raised the score to 71 - 3. Barker came back and struck
again by removing Upshall. Mike Nash now bowled a good spell
to take two wickets. However, number five , M.Tuck, was
still there and launched a late attack in the forty fourth
over, hitting three crucial sixes before Nash bowled him.
In reply, Swanage were soon 11 - 2. Tim Edgar stayed to
take the score to 64, then Ashley King and Sean McLaney
showed enterprise but nevertheless, at 102 - 8 the game
appeared lost. Roger Wilcox had other ideas as he took the
score to within one run of Kingston’s total. With
tension mounting, numbers ten and eleven were run out
leaving Wilcox stranded and Swanage annoyed at losing
another close game.

24.)
Result: Swanage lost by 165 runs.
Details:
The Ross brothers both batted well as Dewlish piled on
the runs on a good Swanage pitch. However, although only
twelve years of age, Toby Avery bowled well to dismiss them
both and take two more wickets in his eight overs.
In reply, Swanage were soon in trouble but determined
batting by Adam King, aged fourteen, allowed Swanage to
reach a respectable 92 against the top of the table team.
