Date and place of Match: Saturday June 1 st, Away. League: NSA Saturday Division 1.

Scoreboard: West Moors 231 - 7

( M.Cockram 53, R.Turner 38, D.Williamson 34, D.Kerry 20. P.Kirby 3 - 47. )

Swanage 164

( C.Wells 74, N.Clark 35. D.Kerry 3 - 20, E.Jeans 3 - 30.)

Result: Swanage lost by 67 runs.

Details:

Openers D.Williamson and Robbie Turner did a fine job for West Moors as they put on 110 in twenty four overs. They were aided by the ill disciplined Swanage bowling and fielding, which finally conceded a total of 60 extras, as well as by several dropped catches. Peter Kirby now helped Swanage to regain control when he dismissed both openers in successive balls. However, West Moors regained the initiative through the powerful hitting of numbers four and five, Mike Cockram and D. Kerry, who added 88 runs off the final ten overs.

Openers Craig Wells and Nick Clark got the run chase off to a good start for Swanage as they put on 70 in seventeen overs.

Clark was then bowled by one that kept low from the last ball of D.Kerry’s impressive nine over spell. With the field widely spread, Craig Wells did everything possible to maintain the momentum but lacked support from the remaining batsmen, who again contributed poorly. Wells eventually fell to Turner’s tidy off spin for a well made 74, which included two 6’s and six 4’s. Kerry then returned to finish the game with a double wicket maiden and to leave Swanage ruing those 60 extras.

Date and place of Match: Sunday June 2 nd, at Home. League: NSA Sunday Division 3.

Scoreboard: Swanage First Eleven 168 - 5

( I.Perry 47*, M.Nash 45, T.Edgar 41. C.Woods 3 - 53.)

Sturminster and Hinton 129

( A.Broomfield 31, A.Beale 25, A.Rose 21. R.Norman 4 - 31, A.Avery 3 - 32.)

Result: Swanage won by 39 runs.

Details:

Swanage batsmen took time to get going at Days Park but, with wickets in hand, accelerated excellently. Mike Nash and Tim Edgar put on a useful 60 for the second wicket to take the score to 90. However, only twelve overs remained. Playing his first game of the season, Ian Perry now transformed the innings with a series of fine strokes. He and Tim Edgar put on 60 in nine overs and enabled a competitive total to be set.

In reply, Sturminster were soon in trouble due to another fine spell of fast bowling from Ryan Norman. He and Ron Barker reduced the visitors to 16 - 3. Sturminster stalwart Adrian Rose then threatened until Roger Wilcox had him caught in the deep. After Andy Avery removed dangermen A.Broomfield and A.Beale, keen fielding and two more wickets from Norman led to Swanage’s convincing victory.

Date and place of Match: Sunday June 2 nd, Away. League: NSA Sunday Division 8.

Scoreboard: Swanage Second Eleven 172 - 5

( T.Buck 38, A.Horn 35, S.McLaney 33*, T.Yeates 30*. )

Mere 176 - 3

( G.Mitchell 58, C.Guy 40*, C.Wiscombe 22*.)

Result: Swanage lost by 7 wickets.

Details:

An opening partnership of 61 between Terry Buck and Alistair Horn , along with good contributions from Tom Yeates and Sean McLaney enabled Swanage to set a competitive total at Mere, especially given the length of the outfield grass. However, the slack and inaccurate Swanage bowling made life very easy for the Mere batsmen who eased their way to victory in the thirty ninth over.
