Date of Match:
Saturday, June 17th, Away. League: PCB
Saturday Division 2.
Scoreboard:
Dorchester Second Eleven 216 - 4 ( D.Lee
76, C.Gough 40, D.Chubb 31*, M.Derrien 20.)
Swanage 172 - 6 ( C.Wells 52, G.Watson 46,
S.Warner 27. D.Prouse 3 - 30.)
Result: Swanage lost by 34 runs.
Details: D.Lee and C.Gough put on 96 in
25 overs to give Dorchester an excellent
start. The middle order built on this
until D.Chubb helped them add 76 in the
last ten overs with a series of straight
hits for six and four. In reply, Craig
Wells and Guy Watson did well to put
together a century partnership against
steady Dorchester bowling. Even then
Swanage were struggling to reach the high
scoring rate required and, with the
exception of a cavalier innings from Seb
Warner, the middle order fell away to a
tame defeat.
Date of Match: Sunday, June 18th, Home.
League: PCB Sunday Division 1.
Scoreboard:
Poole and Poole O.G.s 165 (C.Hopkins
34, R.Harrington 33, A.Kempton 30, T.Khanna
29. P.Kirby 5 - 36.) Swanage First Eleven
169 - 0 ( C.Wells 93*, M.Nash 54*.)
Result: Swanage won by ten wickets.
Details: A.Kempton and C.Hopkins opened
well for Poole, putting on 73 in 21 overs
but good bowling from Mark Parsons, who
beat the outside of the bat regularly,
held them in check. C.Hopkins held the
rest of the innings together. However
Peter Kirbys left arm spinners were
too much for a Poole side, which was
weakened by a wedding commitment, and
they were all out in the last over. In
reply, Craig Wells and Mike Nash batted
with enterprise, with the ball scorching
frequently through the covers to the
boundary. Though they tried hard, Poole
had no answer to Wells forceful
strokeplay, which included a huge pull
for six off Glover. With Nash also
playing well, Swanage cruised to their
second victory of the season in the
thirtysecond over.
