Match: Saturday, August 12th, Home.
League: PCB Saturday Division 2.
Scoreboard: Ferndown 194 - 7
( D.Rose 59, R.Bowering 47*, C.Jennings
37. P.Kirby 4 - 40. )
Swanage 195 - 4
( N.Clark 56, G.Watson 43*, P.Clark 33.)
Result: Swanage won by 6 wickets.
Details:
After economical Swanage bowling at the
start, D.Rose and C.Jennings really put
bat to ball for Ferndown, hitting a
succession of 4s in their 48 run
partnership. Peter Kirby disposed of them
both, and then bowled two more for ducks
in another important spell of slow, left
arm bowling. The persevering D.Bowering
then rescued the Ferndown innings in an
unbroken eighth wicket partnership worth
35 runs.
Nick Clark and David Haines opened well
for Swanage against the ever accurate D.Ballams
inswingers. Ballam eventually bowled
Haines for 17. Then Peter Clark helped
his son take the total above 100 before
both went chasing wide deliveries.
Needing to score at more than six runs an
over, the game was in the balance when
skipper Guy Watson took charge. John
Hardy and Peter Kirby helped him to
achieve victory with nine balls to spare.
Although they did enough to win, top of
the table Swanage will need to raise
their game when they meet second placed
Dorchester at Days Park on Saturday.

Scoreboard: Bournemouth 200
( A.Dare 60, N.Staddon 43. G.Watson 4 -
49.)
Swanage First Eleven 204 - 1
( N.Clark 115*, J.Clark 66*.)
Result: Swanage won by 9 wickets.
Details: Terry Falck made two early
breakthroughs in an outstanding spell of
fast bowling at Days Park. First he
trapped C.Collins leg before and then had
Chris Insall caught behind.. Neil Staddon
steadied the innings until he was bowled
by Ryan Norman. Number 5, A.Dare, looked
to have set Bournemouth up for a big
score with a hard hitting knock, which
included three sixes. However, Dare was
bowled the ball after his last six by Guy
Watson, who took three more wickets in an
important spell, which reduced ten man
Bournemouth from 168 - 5 to 200 all out.
When Craig Wells went early, Nick Clark
was joined by his brother Jonny with the
score at 6 - 1. Together, they
consolidated the innings against accurate
the bowling of Ligtermoet and Haniff,
only reaching 50 in the nineteenth over.
Then Nick Clark hit four successive fours
to set up a momentum which was never lost
in an unbroken partnership of 198.
Dominating with powerful driving, he
scored his second century of the weekend,
hitting two 6s and fifteen 4s.
Jonny Clark provided the ideal foil,
constantly rotating the strike and
peppering the mid-wicket boundary with
superb shots off his legs. The target was
reached in the forty-fourth over to give
Swanage a most satisfying victory.

Scoreboard: Bournemouth Second Eleven
266
( J.Bryson 64, J.Banfield 60, L.B.Clark
40, M.Bullen 24, A.Dunkeley 23.
R.Wilcox 4 - 55. )
Swanage Second Eleven 200 - 8
( N.Bishop 49, T.Buck 23, J.Hardy 23. L.B.Clark
3 - 45.)
Result: Swanage lost by 66 runs.
Report: L.B.Clark and A.Dunkeley opened
briskly for Bournemouth, 53 runs coming
off the first ten overs. Chris Elfes
off spin put on a temporary brake, as he
induced two catches at extra cover, but
Banfield and Bryson batted aggressively
to put on 74 for the fifth wicket. In an
accurate spell, Roger Wilcox dismissed
them both and helped Swanage to pick up
the last six wickets for 42 runs.
After a poor start, Terry Buck and Nick
Bishop got the innings on its way,
putting on 80 for the third wicket.
Although never threatening Bournemouths
large score, all the other batsmen
contributed to enable Swanage to reach a
respectable total.
