Date of
Match: Saturday, May 6th at Home.
League: PCB Saturday Division 2.
Scoreboard:
Cattistock 75
( G.Watson. 4 - 12. )
Swanage 76 - 0
( C. Wells 53*, M. Nash 21*.)
Result: Swanage won by 10 wickets.
Details:
Swanages new captain, Guy Watson
had a dream start when all his bowlers
did well on a slow, seaming pitch. Only
20 runs came from the opening fourteen
overs from Mark Parsons and Ryan
Norman, who beat the bat regularly with
his outswingers. After these two took the
first three wickets, Guy Watson bowled an
effective spell to destroy the middle
order. Then new, left-arm spinner, Peter
Kirby, dismissed numbers ten and eleven
to close the innings in the fortythird
over.
in reply, Craig Wells and Mike Nash had
to bat carefully against the swinging
ball. Unlike Cattistock, they stuck to
their task and batted with increasing
confidence, Wells hitting two sixes over
mid wicket. Victory was achieved in the
thirtieth over.

Scoreboard:
Swanage First Eleven 178 - 7
( C.Wells 106. )
Wayfarers 124
( P. Williams 32, M. Stacey 24, J.
Stoodley 21*, R. Sellars 20.
R. Norman 4 - 44, P. Constable 3 - 15.)
Result: Swanage won by 54 runs.
Details:
A fine century from Craig Wells
ensured an excellent score on the slow,
grassy Wayfarers pitch. Wells
received steady support from several
other batsmen but was, nevertheless,
totally dominant. He hit three sixes and
seven fours in his fortytwo over innings.
Two of the sixes were huge pulls. The
third was memorable - a straight hit off
the back foot which went over the sight
screen. It is a stroke scarcely ever
played at this level.
In reply, Wayfarers struggled against
the accuracy of Mark Parsons, whose
opening eight overs cost only nine runs.
However, Mark Stacey, Richard Sellars and
Phil Williams made reasonable progress.
Williams appeared to be the main threat
as he hit fierce drives and pull off the
back foot. When Terry Falck bowled
Williams with a fine delivery, Wayfarers
could not maintain the required run rate
against a good spell from Peter
Constable, who returned to the side from
long term injury. He and Ryan Norman took
the last seven wickets in fifteen overs
for only 37 runs to gain a satisfying
victory.

Scoreboard:
Mudeford 126
( J.Whitehurst 31. Tim Mister 4 - 26, R.
Wilcox 3 - 38. )
Swanage Second Eleven 108
( T. Buck 21, C. Brynner. G.Wilkinson 3 -
28.)
Result: Swanage lost by 18 runs.
Details:
Tim Mister , Roger Wilcox and Ben
Churchill pegged Mudeford back with
accurate bowling to give Swanage hope at
Days Park. Nevertheless, several
catches offered by Mudefords
opener, J.Whitehurst, were not accepted.
In reply, Terry Buck and newcomer Chris
Brynner batted solidly but Swanage were
always behind the run rate. Wickets then
fell regularly as the runchase ensued. G.
Wilkinson took a hat trick to close a
tense game in the fortyfourth over.
